Pushkar is one of the famous culture holidays tourist destination in India that everybody is aware of and likes to make spiritual holidays at least once in a life. This consecrated city of Hindus is only 10 km from the city of Ajmer in Rajasthan. This “Adi Tirtha” finds a venerable mention in the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata. Lord Bramha is said to have killed the asura Vajra Nabha with lotus flower. The asura was ruined by the contact, and petals fell down at three places. One of those places, according to this mythology is Pushkar, where a lake was formed. Brahma performed ritual killing on a Kartik Purnima (full moon day in the Hindu Kartik month), consecrating it.

A holy bath in the lake at Pushkar and adoration at Brahma temple (the only Brahma temple in the world) is controlled at high regards. Pushkar, regarded one of the five dhams (Badrinath, Rameswaram, Puri and Dwarka), is bristle with several temples, which trace their origin to ancient times. Aurangzeb, the Mughal Emperor tried his best to annihilate all these temples. However, they were always reconstructed and they still stand tall. Fables claim that, at one time, the shores of the Pushkar Lake were entertaining 500 temples and 52 palaces (for numerous kings).

The spiritual destination of Pushkar is well settled between hills from tri-directions and the brilliant golden desert form the remaining. Though the climatic variances border the extreme ranges as is the true for any desert the always city is buzzing with activities (Festivals, Fairs, Safaris, pilgrimages etc.) all around the year.

Aside from religious reasons Pushkar has also delighted itself to many for its tremendous shopping centers extending various fabrics, books, handicraft goods, traditional and fusion music etc. Words of caution though; avoid expenditure of meat and meat products and alcohol within 5 km of Pushkar.
