Kemmanagundi Travel Guide

Beautifully decorated gardens and developing mind congesting flowers, a beautiful hill station, Chandra Drona Parvatha as Hindu puranas described it; Kemmanagundi is in the hill chains of Baba Budan Giri which has the bequest of bearing the Karnataka’s tallest peak Mullayanagiri.

The Krishnaraje Wodeyar IV, the Maharaja of Mysore utilized this place as the imperial summer retreat, as the consequence of which the hill station has got its second name as KR hills. Kemmanagundi, the name is gained from three Kannada words, Kempu, Mannu and Gundi literally stands for red, soil and place respectively, together means a place with red soil.
